Student Engagement Mentor – Haywards Heath
Are you looking for a Student Engagement Mentor or SEND Support role in Haywards Heath?
We are recruiting for a Student Engagement Mentor to join a specialist SEND school near Haywards Heath supporting children with SEMH, Autism (ASC), ADHD and complex learning needs.
This is a full-time, long-term opportunity within a supportive special school setting.
Due to the location of this School, the ideal candidate will need to be a driver, as it is not accessible via Public Transport.
About the role:
As a Student Engagement Mentor, you will support pupils with:
SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs)
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
ADHD
Complex communication needs
Additional learning disabilities
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 support to students with SEND
Supporting pupils within the classroom environment
Implementing behaviour management strategies
Working alongside teachers and SEN support staff
Encouraging student engagement and emotional regulation
Monitoring progress and providing feedback
This role would suit someone passionate about working in special education, behaviour support, youth work, or care.
What you will need:

SEMH provisions
Youth work
Care or support work
Behaviour mentoring
Teaching assistant roles
Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is desirable but not essential. Full training is available. Most importantly, we are looking for candidates who are:
