SEND Teacher (Maternity Cover) – Specialising in SLCN and Down Syndrome Support

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate SEND Teacher for a maternity cover position, to support students with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN). The role involves working with students, 60% of whom have Down Syndrome, learning at a primary level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging lessons tailored to students with SLCN, with a focus on speech and language development.
• Support students with Down Syndrome, using visual aids, PECS, and other communication tools.
• Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes both academic and emotional growth.
• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other staff to implement individual learning plans.

What We’re Looking For:

• Primary teaching experience is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of SLCN, particularly in supporting students with Down Syndrome.
• Experience using visual aids, PECS, and communication strategies.
• A nurturing and adaptive teaching style to meet individual needs.
