Engage Education are supporting a specialist school in the Wakefield area who are looking for student engagement mentors to join them.

All of the children have complex social, emotional and mental health needs and many have additional severe learning and communication difficulties. The school and staff look beyond the issues and problems the children come with and see their potential within. It is the job of support staff to provide a secure, consistent, structured environment where children can work to overcome and manage those issues in order to engage in education and achieve their potential.

Your Role:

  • Supporting learners on a one-to-one basis often with complex learning needs
  • Working with other support staff to engage pupils in class
  • Providing feedback to teachers and parents
  • You will be assisting pupils with Complex Communication and Autism, SEMH, ADHD, Severe Learning Difficulties and other Learning Disabilities 

What you will need:

  • A range of behaviour management techniques
  • To have worked with learners with a range of needs
  • The ability to engage a young person in learning through a range of methods
  • To be able to commit to working at the school for long period of time
  • A resilient attitude
