Engage Education is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming team in Twickenham. The school provides secondary education for students in KS3 and KS4 with moderate learning difficulties and Autism. It boasts outstanding, purpose-built facilities, including specialised classrooms for vocational subjects such as Design and Technology, Food Technology, and Music.

Students follow one of three personalised pathways designed around their strengths and academic needs, though all are working below their chronological age. The successful candidate will be passionate about making a meaningful difference in students’ lives and motivated to help them reach their full potential. Flexibility is essential, as you will work across different classes and support students with a range of abilities throughout the school.

This is a fantastic opportunity, starting in January, for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant seeking a new and rewarding challenge.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly moderate learning difficulties and Autism.

  • Experience supporting students in an educational setting, ideally at secondary level (KS3/KS4).

  • Understanding of strategies for supporting pupils working below age-related expectations.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students, staff, and parents.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to motivate, encourage, and engage learners with diverse needs.

  • Flexibility to work across different classes and support students of varying abilities.

  • Good organisational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to follow teacher guidance while also using initiative when required.
