SEMH Teacher – KS2 Class – Lewisham

We are working with an SEN School in Lewisham, which is seeking a Special Needs Teacher, to lead a class of SEMH, Autistic students and SpCLN.

This is for a September 2023 start date, and the school is looking to interview ASAP.

About the role:

• As our Teacher; your role will be to provide high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities and sensory experiences to a small KS2 classroom of 6 or 7 students with ASD and SEMH
• You will need to help enable them to achieve their full potential in all areas of learning.
• As an SEN teacher you will also support our children to ensure every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential and access a variety of opportunities in a caring and safe environment.

About You:

• Qualified Teacher status
• Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt this for pupils with SEN – knowledge of PECS and Makaton
• Previous Primary teaching experience and specialism
• Experience of working with young people with ASC, SpCLN, SEMH and complex needs and some severe behaviours that challenge
• Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
• Ability to create and maintain nurturing relationships with young people
• Experience of managing a range of approaches to learning, including the students with anxiety and Autism and SEMH.
• Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners important.
