Science Technician Required – Secondary School in Rye (Part Time)
Engage Education are working with a secondary school in Rye to recruit a part-time Science Technician to support the smooth running of the Science department. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with an interest in science who enjoys practical, hands-on work and supporting teaching and learning in a school environment.
The school is seeking a well-organised and reliable individual who can assist teachers with lesson preparation, maintain laboratory equipment and ensure a safe working environment for both staff and students.
About the role
As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting practical science lessons and maintaining laboratory spaces. Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing equipment, materials and resources for practical Science lessons
Setting up and clearing down laboratories before and after lessons
Maintaining, cleaning and safely storing equipment and chemicals
Supporting health and safety procedures within the Science department
Assisting teaching staff during practical activities where appropriate
Monitoring stock levels and supporting the ordering of supplies
This is a part-time role, with working hours to be agreed with the school.
About you
An interest or background in Science or a related subject
Organised, practical and able to follow procedures accurately
Confident working in a secondary school environment
Good understanding of health and safety, or willingness to learn
Reliable, proactive and able to work independently
Previous experience in a school or laboratory setting is desirable but not essential
