English Teacher – SEMH Specialist Setting
Location: Calderdale, West Yorkshire
Start: ASAP – Summer Term 2026
Contract: Temporary (with potential extension)
Working Pattern: 4 days per week
About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded specialist education provider in Calderdale seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate English Teacher to join their team on a part-time basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference within a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) setting supporting young people with Education, Health and Care Plans.
The provision supports students aged 5–19 through personalised learning pathways designed to help them overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and prepare successfully for adulthood, further education, or employment.

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging English lessons tailored to SEMH learners
Adapt curriculum content to meet individual EHCP outcomes
Support literacy, communication and functional English skills
Build positive relationships that promote engagement and emotional regulation
Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists and pastoral teams
Contribute to students’ personal development, confidence and independence
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a teacher who:
Holds QTS/QTLS (or equivalent teaching qualification, (desirable but not essential)
Has experience working in SEMH, SEND or alternative provision (desirable but not essential)
Demonstrates strong behaviour management and relational practice
Is flexible, resilient and trauma-informed in approach
Is passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
