School Catering Assistant In Hastings

We are currently seeking a dedicated School Catering Assistant to join our culinary team and contribute to the well-being of our students.
As a School Catering Assistant, you will be an essential part of our school's catering operations. Your main responsibility will be to support the preparation and serving of delicious and healthy meals to our students and staff. Your positive attitude, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety will ensure the dining experience is enjoyable and nourishing for everyone.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Assist the school kitchen team in preparing a variety of meals, snacks, and beverages following set recipes and portion sizes. Ensure the quality and presentation of food align with our school's standards.
- Food Service: Help in the efficient and timely service of meals during breakfast, lunch, and other designated times. Display a friendly and welcoming demeanour towards students and staff during service.
- Cleaning and Hygiene: Maintain a clean and organised kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and equipment. Follow food safety and hygiene practices to uphold health and safety standards.
- Stock Management: Assist in monitoring food inventory levels, checking expiration dates, and notifying the supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.
- Assist with Menu Planning: Collaborate with the catering team to suggest menu ideas, offer feedback on popular dishes, and contribute to the development of balanced and nutritious meal options.
- Allergen and Special Dietary Considerations: Be aware of food allergens and special dietary requirements of students and staff, ensuring appropriate meal accommodations are made when necessary.
- Customer Service: Provide friendly and helpful customer service to students and staff, addressing their inquiries and dietary needs courteously and professionally.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a catering or food service environment is an advantage but not mandatory. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
- A genuine interest in food and cooking, with a willingness to learn new recipes and culinary techniques.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills to handle multiple tasks during busy meal periods.
