School Caretaker – Littlehampton

Engage Education is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming school in the Littlehampton area for a full-time School Caretaker starting in September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on individual who enjoys maintaining buildings and grounds while contributing to a positive learning environment. The successful candidate will help ensure the school premises are safe, secure, and operating efficiently each day.

About the role:

• Maintaining the school buildings, grounds, and outdoor areas to a high standard
• Opening and securing the school premises each day
• Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs
• Supporting planned maintenance programmes and contractor visits
• Completing regular health and safety checks across the site
• Monitoring and reporting maintenance issues as they arise
• Preparing classrooms and communal areas for school events and activities
• Assisting with deliveries, furniture moves, and general site duties
• Helping to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for the whole school community

About you:

• Experience in caretaking, maintenance, site management, or facilities is desirable
• Good practical skills and confidence carrying out general repairs
• Understanding of health and safety responsibilities
• Reliable, hardworking, and self-motivated
• Able to manage a varied workload and work independently
• Friendly and professional when working with staff, pupils, visitors, and contractors
• Flexible approach and willingness to support the wider school community
• Full UK driving licence is desirable
