School Caretaker – Crowborough

Engage Education are currently recruiting for a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join a school in Crowborough. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with maintenance or site experience to play a key role in ensuring the school environment is safe, secure and well maintained for pupils, staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will be practical, organised and able to work independently while supporting the wider school team.

About the role

As School Caretaker, you will be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep and security of the school site.

Your duties will include:

• Opening and closing the school premises

• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs

• Ensuring the site is clean, safe and secure at all times

• Conducting regular health and safety checks

• Supporting with compliance and record keeping

• Assisting with deliveries and setting up rooms for school events

• Liaising with contractors when required

This is a full-time role and may require flexibility with working hours, including early starts or split shifts.

About you

• Previous caretaker, site assistant or maintenance experience

• Basic DIY and repair skills

• Good understanding of health and safety procedures

• Reliable, trustworthy and hardworking

• Able to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively

• A valid enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one

Experience working within a school environment is desirable but not essential.
