Behavioural Support Assistant – Bentley

Engage Education are currently working in partnership with a specialist SEMH provision on an exciting new position specifically to support learners with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs in the Bentley area.

Starting immediately, the school is looking for an SEMH Support Assistant to join them on a long term basis. If successful during the probationary period, this will lead into a permanent role.

This school is a unique and small environment effective in supporting children with complex behaviours and needs, many of them having experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences.

Having previous experience working with people with challenging behaviours – both children and adults – will be a strong advantage! Anyone from a care, support worker or youth worker is encouraged to apply.

We can provide training to any candidates who show a real passion and eagerness to learn, however, the ideal candidate must have good behaviour management.

Your Role:

  • Supporting learners on a one-to-one basis often with complex behavioural needs

  • Working with other support staff to engage pupils in class

  • Providing feedback to teachers and parents

The School:

This school strives to give their pupils a fresh approach to learning in their alternative provision setting. They encourage pupils to continue their educational progress both within the time they are there and when they are ready to move on to other schools and establishments.

This provision recognises the need to address both the social and emotional needs of their pupils alongside and in conjunction with their educational needs.

What you will need:

  • A range of behaviour management techniques

  • To have worked with learners with a range of needs

  • The ability to engage a young person in learning through a range of methods

  • To be able to commit to working at the school for long period of time

  • A resilient attitude

Why choose Engage Education?

  • We pay all our staff in line with the Agency Worker Regulations, meaning your pay will be equal to that of a permanent employee

  • You will benefit from your own dedicated Engage consultant who will provide ongoing support and guidance

  • You will be invited to our wide range of continued professional development (CPD) training sessions, provided by our in-house team of experienced senior leaders. These are completely free to attend!
