Attendance Officer – Brighton

School Based | Full-Time | September 2026 Start

Engage Education is working with a welcoming and supportive school in Brighton to recruit an Attendance Officer for a full-time position starting in September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual who is passionate about supporting pupil attendance and wellbeing. You will play a key role in monitoring attendance, working closely with families and school staff to promote excellent attendance and punctuality across the school.

About the role:

• Monitoring daily pupil attendance and punctuality using the school’s management information system
• Following up on pupil absences with parents and carers in line with school procedures
• Maintaining accurate attendance records and producing attendance reports
• Identifying attendance concerns and supporting early intervention strategies
• Working closely with pastoral staff, senior leaders, and external agencies where appropriate
• Supporting the implementation of attendance policies and procedures
• Communicating professionally with parents, carers, and external professionals
• Assisting with attendance meetings and maintaining confidential records
• Promoting a positive culture of good attendance throughout the school

About you:

• Previous administration or attendance experience is desirable
• School-based experience is beneficial but not essential
• Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail
• Confident using Microsoft Office and school management systems
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with families
• Able to manage confidential information with discretion
• Calm, professional, and able to prioritise a varied workload
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
