Engage Education is recruiting Academic Mentors to work in a number of secondary schools across Greenwich from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates and experienced education professionals who are passionate about helping young people achieve their full academic potential. Whether you’re planning to pursue teacher training or are looking to gain valuable classroom experience, this role provides an excellent foundation for a career in education.

The Role

As an Academic Mentor, you will:

  • Deliver targeted one-to-one and small group interventions to help students improve their attainment.
  • Support pupils across a range of subjects, with opportunities to work within your specialist subject area where appropriate.
  • Help students prepare for GCSE examinations by reinforcing key knowledge and study skills.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and pastoral staff.
  • Encourage confidence, resilience, and independent learning.
  • Support classroom teachers where required and contribute to a positive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Holds a degree (or is due to graduate) in any subject, with strong subject knowledge.
  • Has experience working with young people through schools, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or youth work (desirable).
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is enthusiastic, patient, and committed to helping students succeed.
  • Is considering a career in teaching or education.
