Testimonials for Rachel Travers
Thank you so much for organising such an informative and engaging event. This gave me a brilliant insight into the programme, and inspired me to continue pursuing my dream to teach! I particularly enjoyed the group tasks, and feel that they were perfectly placed to break up the presentation and get us all engaged. Also, I felt that some of the tasks given were even great interview practice. Please also do extend my thanks to Mike too!

I went on the Engage iday to London in March and I was very impressed by the whole experience. First Rachel at the Irish Engage office prepared me for iday in the weeks before leaving, highlighting what I needed to submit, know about the English education system and also interview prep. The travel arrangements we all taken care of by Engage, taking a lot of stress off my shoulders.

I found Engage really easy to work with. They helped sort out my job before moving over which allowed me to enjoy my final summer after finishing college with all my friends in America. This was really good and Rachel made it really easy and stress free to send on documents over Facebook which was a great help! Engage also helped me once I started working any major issues I had I was able to ring up and Engage would get into contact with someone to help. It was a good first experience moving countries and Engage helped make that move much easier. I would recommend Engage to people moving to England from different countries.

I first encountered Engage Education in college when Rachel came in to give a quick talk on what they did. I was intrigued and went to the information evening held in the office by Rachel. Again I was intrigued but not fully sold on the idea of moving abroad to England to teach (Irish stubbornness). I kept an open mind but committed to nothing major at that time. Throughout this time I kept in regular contact with Rachel. She was great and really put my mind at ease. Both Rachel and John came to visit DCU once again and this time I paid full attention and was sold on the idea of at least attending an iday event. I signed up for the May iday 3 weeks before the event. I would never have this opportunity if it were not for the tireless efforts of the Engage staff. I am so thankful for all the help and support I received. I would recommend iday and Engage Education to anybody who is even curious about going to England to teach. I went over on Sunday thinking that whatever I got would act as security and I would try and find a job in Ireland through the summer. Now I have a job in England and will be stopping my search here. It is too good of an opportunity to turn down. Go and be open-minded. It is a great opportunity to get extensive interview experience, meet new people and, hopefully, find a job.

My name is Eilis C and I graduated in 2015.. I found out about Engage only four short weeks ago when the lovely Rachel travelled to the college to deliver a talk on the work that they do with newly qualified teachers here in Ireland in helping them find teaching positions in the UK. I had been thinking about going over to London to teach come September as I knew the teaching situation, especially in my locality was very poor at the moment and that it was highly unlikely that I would get any substitute work/ leave in the foreseeable future. I spoke with Rachel after the talk about my interest in teaching abroad and going to an iday in London. She arranged a time to ring me to discuss the process further and answer any questions or concerns I had. The following week we spoke on the phone and after her informative chat I was confident that I wanted to join the Engage team and attend the soonest iday event. Two weeks later, with much help from Rachel and the Dublin office who assisted me in writing up my CV and getting references, I was packed and airport bound for the March iday event! Even though I had little time for preparation, the girls were reassuring and made me feel at ease leading up to the date. From the moment I arrived at Dublin airport and met up with Rachel and the other teachers travelling with Engage I was excited for what the coming days had in store. Nothing however, could prepare me for the iday experience! Although it was an intense day (I had 6 interviews in 7 hours) it was extremely well organised and gave me the chance to meet with Principals and teaching personnel from various schools in and around London and get a feel for the English education system and school life over there. Not to mention we were all well looked after with constant refreshments provided throughout the day to keep the energy levels up. Following on from the interviews, I was fortunate enough to get called back to my top two schools where on the Wednesday and Thursday I got to go out and visit the schools, meet the staff and teach a lesson. At the end of the four days I was packed and ready to return to Dublin with a full-time teaching position commencing September 2015 in the school of my 1st choice. I was delighted with the news and the airport bar was hit on the way home for a celebratory drink with my 10 new friends that I had made during the London trip. I have to compliment Engage on the work that they are doing in providing teachers with their service and the opportunity to find suitable work. We were treated like professionals the entire time that we were with Engage and there was always someone on hand to address any issues we had throughout our time in London. I would highly recommend Engage to anyone like myself who is eager to start out on their teaching profession, gain experience, travel and meet new people along the way. :)

Because of the iday event, I am now in the position of having a job from September in a wonderful school all with the help of Engage and in particular, Rachel who was always there to answer any questions or just for a chat. I would recommend Engage Education to anyone, and believe that attending an information evening or contacting the Engage team is a good first step to finding the job that you want in a school that suits you!

Rachel was fantastic helping me relocate from Ireland to the UK 2 years ago. Everything from interview prep for iday as well as helping with everything for the relocation was covered. She also kept in contact about CPD sessions in England that might be helpful!

I am just finishing my degree studying a Bachelor of Education in St. Angela's College Sligo. I found out about Engage through a website. It was great working with Rachel. As soon as I applied Rachel was in contact within a day or two by email which was followed by a phone conversation. We had many conversations over the phone about the up and coming idays. Rachel also did an interview over the phone which I feel helped me a lot when it came to doing interviews at iday as I felt prepared. Everything was well organised and we didn't have to worry about a thing only making sure we got to Dublin Airport in enough time to check in our bags and meet the group. Rachel was always very prompt when I had a query and she phoned me again a few days prior to iday so that I knew exactly what was ahead of me. The iday experience was really good. It was an invaluable experience as I found it was a great way to improve my interview skills and as the day went on I got more confident and was really able to relax. I felt this helped me to perform really well in my interviews. It was great to get to meet so many new people which will also be working in the UK in the coming months. I was only a little nervous the morning of the interviews as I didn't know what to expect but as soon as I had my first one done I was at my ease. I found the few days not to be stressful at all to my surprise. The only worries I had was to make sure I got up in enough time before the bus or taxi came to get me. I didn't have to worry about organising transport any where. Neither did I have any financial worries as everything was paid for. It all made for a very stress-free week for me. A part which may have been slightly stressful was being observed while teaching a lesson but because I am so newly finished my teaching practice I was used to this and it didn't phase me at all. I would highly recommend this invaluable experience with Engage.
