Lucas Blackwell
Hello, I’m Lucas! I’m a trainee SEND consultant working with the Leeds team. I mainly look after schools in the Bradford area, with the aim to work more closely with schools across Calderdale in the future.
Before joining Engage, I worked as both a primary teacher and teaching assistant in the Wakefield area. My short career in education shaped the person that I am today and I want to use my experience and knowledge to help as many people as possible into the most important job in the world.
I decided to join the SEND team as I have a background in working with children with complex needs. I also have a master’s degree in Inclusive Education. Ensuring that all children have an equal opportunity to achieve their potential is something I remain very passionate about. Whilst SEND teaching is a challenging career path, it is also one of the most rewarding.
Outside of work, I am a huge music fan. I am a big advocate for the local music scene in Leeds. I spend most of my spare time at gigs around the city and telling people that Yard Act are the best band in the world.
