How will iPGCE benefit me?
The course curriculum covers everything required to become a high-quality teacher, developing your knowledge on how to teach a specialised subject at a secondary level or cover a range of subjects at a primary level. Other great benefits of enrolling on the course include – Learning how to manage behaviour in the classroom and gaining a deeper understanding of how children of different abilities learn. When completing the iPGCE course you will be visited once in school and twice virtually by a university assessor.
There are currently two separate entry routes to qualify for this course which allows you to teach in Primary or Secondary schools – an employed and a non-employed route. The program focuses on developing your skills as an educator through a school-based training model for Teacher Training, whilst delivering content and learning online.
Key iPGCE information
Once you successfully complete iQTS, the DfE will automatically award you QTS (Qualified Teaching Status), which is recognised in England and other countries as a formal teaching qualification.
There are three start dates in each academic year for both full-time and part-time routes – September, January and April. This qualification is awarded by the National Institute of Teaching and Education, part of Coventry University.
