Teacher Training Programme Structure

Our modular approach to teacher training is the only programme of its kind currently available to prospective teachers. You will train via online digital learning, including the following modules:

Phase ONE

  • Knowledge of The Teachers’ Standards
  • Understanding of The Teachers’ Standards
  • Reflective Summary of Learning linked to The Teachers’ Standards

Phase TWO

  • Behaviour and Classroom Management
  • Curriculum Delivery and Assessment
  • Development of The Teachers’ Standards
  • Evidence of Practical Teaching Practice

FULL-TIME TEACHING

  • In your first year, you will work full-time as a member of the support staff
  • In your second year, you’ll be ready to start teaching as a trainee teacher

Frequently asked questions

Engage Education has partnered with a prestigious UK-based university to provide a completely free, salaried route into teaching for graduates. Whether you’re looking to change career, or you’re a recent graduate hoping to begin teaching with your new undergraduate degree, we provide free training and support to start you on your new teaching journey.

  • What certificate do I require?

    All teachers must have a Leaving Certificate of minimum Grade C (Ordinary Level)  or Grade D (Higher Level). If you desire to train as a primary teacher, it's required to have a Junior Certificate minimum Grade C (Ordinary Level) or Grade D or above in Science (Higher Level).

  • Do I require a Degree?

    As the programme is a postgraduate course, you will also require an undergraduate degree (Bachelor’s Degree Honours or equivalent with UK NARIC) in order to secure a place.

  • Do I get a Qualification?

    When the programme is complete you will receive a certified qualification from our UK-based university partner. Your qualification will be completely free, we pay all of the costs and can be completed online or in one of the campuses' across the country!

Earn while you learn

While you’re training to get into teaching with us, we will place you as a salaried member of full-time teaching staff in one of our great local partner schools, so you can get that all-important on-the-job experience to prepare you for your new teaching life without having to take a break in earning.

Flexible learning

We know that if you have experience of working with children, you’ll already be familiar with the basics of teaching. That’s why, with our unique modular PGCE offer you can fast-track the first year of your qualification if you hold relevant experience, so nothing slows you down on your journey to become the best educator you can be.
