And We’re Back – January 2022 At Engage

Engage Education is a leading teaching recruitment agency working with schools and educational organisations across the UK. With local offices in Leeds, Brighton, London and the Home Counties, we’re perfectly placed to support the career growth and development of the hundreds of happy teachers that work with us.

Here’s some of the big things we’ll be working on this year

   NTP Tutoring

Tutoring is huge news across the board, in all areas of education. Last year, we became approved Tuition Partners on the National Tutoring Programme. It meant we could start working with schools through the NTP hub to source, train and place tutors to work with pupils on catch-up learning. We’re also able to offer the school-led route to funded tutoring, which gives schools extra flexibility in how they plan tutoring sessions. The Department For Education recommends that schools use agencies like Engage that are CCS-approved, guaranteeing fair and transparent pay for all supply staff. We’ll be putting on more of our interactive NTP webinars to cover all the options for schools leaders, and as tutoring programmes, progress, gathering feedback and tailoring our services to really fit what schools and pupils need

   Overseas Recruitment

Recruiting teachers from overseas to teach in UK schools has always been a vital part of our service. The last few years have made overseas recruitment more complicated, but the teacher shortage in the UK hasn’t abated – there are vacancies in teaching and education at all levels. Although the rules around immigration have changed, there is still a significant need for the UK to source great teachers from across the world, to bring their knowledge and expertise to classrooms here.

iday is our unique recruitment event that matches schools with passionate teachers looking to work in UK schools. We’ve developed iday to work completely virtually, which means schools can reduce the time and resources need to make hires that really match their needs. Schools can book a ‘Virtual Booth’ and interview multiple candidates on a pre-determined schedule. It’s a fantastic way to meet teachers from other countries looking to come to England, as well as UK based teachers on the hunt for the perfect role. Keep an eye on our socials for upcoming iday dates!

   Training And Development

We’ve always prided ourselves in being more than a recruitment agency. We continue to support the development of our candidates throughout their work with us, from wellbeing support with our Partnership and Development team to CPD and training opportunities. We’ve partnered with Creative Education to bring you what we think is one of the best perks for teachers around – completely free-forever access to their huge library of CPD courses and pathways. With courses on a diverse range of topics from Support Staff Mental Health to LGBT+ and gender: How to Audit Your Curriculum, there’s plenty to choose from. We’ll continue to work with schools to develop and train teachers, which we know improves staff retention and workforce morale, as well as additional skills and specialist knowledge.

   What Else?

If the last few years have taught us anything, it’s the importance of being able to adapt in line with the changing needs of our partner schools. From sourcing and training COVID testers to supporting teachers in providing remote learning during school closures and taking iday completely virtual, the changes we’ve been able to make have let us move with the times. This year, we’re all about taking things forward, building relationships with even more great schools around the UK and finding new ways to support the education sector.
